Instagram Payment Link & Tracking Guide

This document provides a complete step-by-step guide to:

  • Sending payment links via Instagram chat

  • Configuring Razorpay payment integration

  • Enabling UPI payment links

  • Tracking payment transactions inside Ownchat

  • Viewing customer-level payment details

Overview

With this feature, you can:

  • Send payment links directly inside Instagram conversations

  • Accept payments via Razorpay integration

  • Track payment status (Created → Paid)

  • Monitor payment performance across channels

  • Access detailed transaction history

Step 1: Access Chat

  1. Click the Chat icon in the left sidebar

  2. Open the messaging dashboard

📌 The chat module allows direct customer interaction and payment sharing.

Step 2: Select Customer Conversation

  1. Choose a customer chat (e.g., Dheva)

  2. Open the conversation window

  • You can now interact directly with the customer

  • Payment links can be shared within this chat

📌 The chat screen displays customer details and conversation history alongside payment options.

  1. Click the Dollar ($) icon in the chat input area

  2. This opens the Send Payment Link dialog

🔹 Select Payment App

  1. Click Select App dropdown

  2. Choose Razorpay

🔹 Select Connection

  1. Click Select Connection dropdown

  2. Choose your Ownchat Account

🔹 Enter Payment Details

  1. Enter Amount

  2. Enter Description

  1. Toggle the UPI Link switch to enable it

  1. Click Send

📌 The payment link is instantly generated and shared in the chat interface.

  • The payment link appears inside the customer chat

  • You can confirm successful delivery

📌 The chat preview shows the payment message along with a “Pay Now” option.

Step 6: Automation Support

  • Payments can also be configured through automation chatbot flows

  • You can track payments initiated via bot interactions

📌 Supports both manual chat payments and automated workflows.

Step 7: Access Payment Dashboard

  1. Click the Payment menu icon in the left sidebar

  2. Open the payment management dashboard

Step 8: Filter by Channel

  1. Click the Channel dropdown

  2. Select Instagram

  • This filters payment links created via Instagram

📌 The dashboard supports filtering across multiple channels.

Step 9: View Transactions

  1. Click the All Transaction tab

  2. View complete payment records

Available Details

  • Customer Name

  • Amount

  • Description

  • Source

  • Created At

  • Status

  • From

  • Payment Link ID

  • Reference ID

Additional Details

  • You can check the Source field to identify the payment provider or origin

  • Once a payment link is generated, it appears under Created status

  • After successful payment, the status updates automatically to Paid

  • Use the Customer Reference ID to access detailed transaction history

Step 10: Analyze Transaction Data

Identify how the payment was triggered:

  • Chat

  • Bot

  • Workflow

📌 Helps measure performance of manual vs automated payment flows.

🔹 Status Tracking

  • Created → Payment link generated

  • Paid → Payment completed

📌 Status updates automatically upon successful payment.

Step 11: View Customer-Level Details

  1. Click on a customer name (e.g., Dheva)

  2. You will be redirected to the chat screen

  • View complete conversation history

  • Access payment interaction context

📌 Enables seamless transition between payments and customer communication.
